Lady In Red, Woman In A Hat

Lady in red, woman in a hat-
they're one and the same here today
in this cafe.
you generally don't see young women
wear hats anymore-
that is fashionable hats, elegant hats,
classy hats-
-you might see them wearing baseball caps,
truckers' hats, farmers' hats
but not those elegant hats
you saw women wearing in those movies
of the '30s, '40s and '50s that I love so well.
You see old women
sometimes wearing such hats
but not young women.
Save for today-
a beautiful young woman
with dark luscious hair
and intense dark eyes-
wearing an attractive elegant classy black hat
that once was a common fashion item
three-quarters of a century ago
a striking scarlet red coat
and black sweater,
her long black hair,
olive skin
and ruby red lips
a striking fashion ensemble.
A small elegant style gold coloured purse
and a modern tablet whose keyboard she punches-
she's like a master female spy
who would dazzle a James Bond-
she certainly dazzles me.
It's funny how some people you'd definitely
like to meet.
But I shall not disturb her.
Who knows what's on her mind?
She seems to be enjoying a quiet meal
by herself.
It would be wrong to intrude.
Unbeknownst to her,
she has served as a writer's muse
for a few minutes.
Her lovely elegant hat,
her beautiful red coat,
her hypnotic appearance
that you see on South Seas island
women in various movies,
she inspires,
Lady in red, woman in a hat-
I thank you for that.
